~ Rachel’s Challenge - Brightwood Elementary School ~Miscoe Hill Middle School’s Rachel’s Challenge group is embarking on a new endeavor. Rachel’s Challenge sets out to empower students and promote kindness and compassion. As a community we will be “adopting” Brightwood Elementary School in Springfield, MA. Brightwood is encompassed of grades K-5, it is the third poorest school in the state with a 99.4 percent poverty level. Our students look forward to helping meet some of the most basic needs of the children at this school. We will do two drives each year. The first one will start each June and run through September, we are requesting school supplies so the students at Brightwood can start their year off right. The second drive will be from October to November where we hope to raise enough hats and gloves for every student to have a new pair. There are no buses for these children so most of them walk to school, we know how brutal New England weather can be so we look forward to helping keep them warm.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mrs. Grant at jgrant@mursd.org.
We will have a box in the lobby to collect school supplies throughout the summer. The needed supplies are:pencils, erasers, glue sticks, notebooks, colored paper, crayons, and pencil boxesThank you so much for empowering our students to do great things for those who are less fortunate.
